Betsy is survived by her husband, Robert, her dad, Bill, both of West Sayville, her sister, Nancy Paauwe and children, Janna, Calvin, and Audrey Schaeffer, of Kennesaw, GA.  Aunt Betsy was extremely generous in her love for these children.

Betsy graduated from Sayville High School in 1977 and was presently on the committee planning for their 40th Reunion.  She also graduated from the Latin-American Institute in New York City, and earned an Associate Degree.

Betsy was a member of the choir at the Congregational Church of Patchogue, as well as the Prayer Shawl Ministry, using her talents as a singer, and her love of knitting and crocheting.

Betsy was a member of the Eagle Eye Ringers, a handbell group at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sayville, using her proficiency as a bell ringer.  She was also on the Board of Directors, as well as Children’s Chorus Manager for the Brookhaven Choral Festival.  She sang with Long Island Voices, the BAFFA chorus, and in the past had sung Handel’s ‘Messiah’ for many years with the Choral Society of the Moriches.

In recent years, Betsy was the Suffolk County Board of Elections coordinator at the West Sayville Fire Hall for Islip Districts 18 and 76.

The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Raynor & D’Andrea  Funeral Home in West Sayville, where a gathering and visitation was held on Sunday, February 19th, with a prayer service at 4 o’clock.  Cremation was private, with the interment of the cremains to take place in the near future in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
