Funeral Mass:  Wednesday,  10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church, Sayville

Interment to follow:  at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Sayville.

Vincent J. Trinkwald Sr, of Merrick, formerly of West Sayville, died on October 14, 2016. Mr. Trinkwald devoted almost three decades of his life towards education. He began as an elementary school teacher and received his first administration appointment as Principal of Forest Brook School upon its opening in 1956. He was involved with the planning and served as opening Principal at Honey Hollow in 1961, Whiporwil in 1963 and Bretton Woods School, Hauppauge from 1967 until his retirement.

Mr. Trinkwald was a lifelong resident of the Sayville and West Sayville communities. He was a graduate of Sayville High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He joined the Hauppauge School District immediately after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has completed graduate work at Hofstra, Adelphi and at SUNY at Plattsburgh and New Paltz. He was a former president of the Suffolk County Elementary Principal’s Association, the Hauppauge Lion’s Club and an Honorary Life Member of P.T.A.

Mr. Trinkwald was predeceased by his wife Joan of 66 years.  He is survived by his children, Vincent Jr. and wife Lois of Hampton Bays, Patricia Postupack and her husband Daniel of New Fairfield CT, Joanne Flood and her husband James of Merrick; his grandchildren, Scott, James, Matthew and his wife Lisa, Daniel and his wife Rachel, Kelly and her husband Daniel, Steven, Meghan and Katie, as well as his great-grandson, Finn.
