I am so sad to hear of James "Mr. Ostrom's" passing. He was my teacher in 1954 and has always held a special place in my heart.. all of us have had a teacher who we remember to be significant. He was a gentle and sweet man who was open and genuine, as was his beloved wife Rose, who I had the privilege of teaching with. I loved them both...With love to your family, Judy King

I never met Jim personally, but I did correspond with him and talked on the phone with him once. My cousin Mary Begley enabled me to get in touch with him so he could answer my family history questions. We were second cousins. From the little contact I had with him I could see he was special. He was a great link to that older generation. Jim knew my mom and dad Lillian and Bill Mulligan. I send my sympathy to his family.

Our condolences on the passing of Uncle James. I have many fond memories of James & Rose, two of the kindest people I had the pleasure of knowing. Love, Laura & Regan Mahoney

Dear Greg, Andrew, and Elizabeth. Our sincere sympathy. Uncle Jim was one of the nicest gentlemen I knew growing up. He was so well educated, and I learned much from him. I never forgot him taking me to Washington Irving's Home in Tarrytown, N.Y. when I was little. Perhaps he was the influence in my becoming an English Lit. major, and even in watching "Sleepy Hollow" yet today. I must second what my sister Jean said, he was special. Love, Howard, Shelby, & Macy Ostrom.
