Wilma Hermine Schroeck-Cooley-Zeblin, of Bohemia, New York, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, New York, to Louis and Paula Schroeck, Wilma was a proud first-generation German American who carried her family's heritage with her throughout her life.
A devoted mother of five, Wilma dedicated herself to raising her family while building a successful career as a bookkeeper and later as an accountant with Lufthansa German Airlines. She was admired for her dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic.
Wilma found great joy in traveling, especially with her beloved sister, Hilda, and in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was the center of her life, and she treasured watching each new generation grow. She will also be fondly remembered by family and friends for her mother's cherished German potato salad recipe, a tradition that brought loved ones together around the table for generations.
Wilma's legacy is one of love, resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her sister, two cherished sons, one beloved grandchild, and one precious great-grandchild. She is survived by her children Edward, Thomas, and Paula; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory, her traditions, and the unconditional love she shared.
