WILLIAM B. “SKIP” MILLER died on February 14, 2025. Skip was charismatic, creative, and very social. He was born in Port Chester NY on July 25, 1935. His parents later moved to Amityville, where he went to high school, was a 3 varsity letterman, and became a NYS champion wrestler. Marrying his high school sweetheart Claire, shortly after graduation, they had two children, Diane and Kevin. Skip was a patrolman in the Amityville Police Department until Suffolk County PD was created. The family moved to Sayville in 1964. Skip rose through the ranks of the SCPD to become a detective out of the 4th precinct and spent most of his adult life in law enforcement of one kind or another. In later years he worked as a U.S. Marshal while living in Virginia. Extremely competitive, he was a natural athlete and never met a sport in which he did not do well. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling, skiing, softball, and many other sports. He is predeceased by his second wife of 40 years, Jeannie Miller, who passed in November 2024. Skip leaves behind his two children, two stepdaughters, 6 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
