William Fitzgerald, age 72 of Oakdale, passed away on Sunday, January 25, following a tragic fall. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, and his brother Robert, his nieces and nephews, and many caring friends.
William was born and raised in Carle Place, NY, where he would spend many happy years. He went on to have a long career working for Amtrak at Penn Station. His face was familiar to many politicians as they returned to New York City from Washington, DC.
Throughout the years, William and Susan would take more than seventy cruises. He especially enjoyed cruises that left from Brooklyn and travelled up and down the Atlantic coast, from Canada to the Caribbean. William would record these cruises on his tablet and carefully document his favorite meals.
In addition to cruising, William always had many interests to share with his friends. He could talk for hours about comic books and old radio shows like Suspense Theater.
The memory of William's friendship and love will remain in the hearts and minds of all who loved him as he enters God's Kingdom.
Family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass at St. John Nepomucene RC Church in Bohemia on Thursday January 29, 10:00 AM.
