Virginia A. Schaum-Sorenson, 93, a lifelong resident of the West Sayville area, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Virginia graduated from Sayville High School in 1946. She was an active member at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Sayville where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and in their Thrift Shop. Virginia also volunteered at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for years.
Mrs. Schaum is survived by her three children, Jeffrey and his wife Rose of Aquebogue, Gary and his wife Michele of West Sayville and Kimberly Rodriguez-Cerillo and her husband John of West Sayville, as well as her four grandchildren, Leah, Katherine, Cody and Ryan, and four great-grandchildren, Mario, Cecelia, Hazel and JJ. She was predeceased by her first husband, Conrad G. Schaum, Jr in 1977 and by her second husband, Harold C. Sorenson in 2005.
Friends and relatives will gather on Friday, December 3rd, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A funeral service will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church at 12 noon and the interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
