Travis McKeveny, self-described “Singer-songwriter. Pessimystic. Gonzo haikuist.”, loving and beloved son of Mary Jean and Gerry McKeveny and brother of Kathleen, and long-time resident of Blue Point passed suddenly from this life on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
Since his passing our spirits have been buoyed by countless tales of his humor, generosity, compassion, his genius for language, song and story, his otherworldly dancing. His love for his art, as great as it was, was dwarfed by his love for his family, friends, community, home, and life itself. Please join us as we both mourn his loss and celebrate his life.
“Dog whistles, the beating of a rueful heart,
A cradled dream’s death knell.
That would send some running through the overgrowth,
Others just can’t hear as well.
Those who join the race seem to incur the steepest fees
When they’re shattered in the space between converging histories.
If our efforts should go amiss
We may never even know the price.
We breathe, we love and we reminisce
To a fanfare of rolling dice.”
-Travis McKeveny, “A Fanfare of Rolling Dice”
