Thomas J. Manzi, Jr.

Thomas Manzi, a long-time resident of Oakdale, NY, on November 18, 2021, at 73. Loving husband of 48yrs. to Mary (Reuss). Son of the late Thomas and Gwendolyn. Devoted father to Keri-Lynn Cobb (Stephen), Eric Manzi and Laura DeSantis (Joseph). Cherished Poppie to predeceased Thomas Manzi, Gina Brennan, Natalie Cobb, Nicola DeSantis, and Oriana DeSantis. The pride and joy of his life were his wife, children and grandchildren. Loving brother to his sister Linda McGuinness (Tom), John Manzi (Christine), and Matthew (Maria).  He was well loved by his in-laws Susan, predeceased by Janet, Maureen Munson (Kenneth), predeceased by Arlene Herbert, Carol Generoso (Ron Voit) Lori Painter (Todd) Christopher and Jennifer Lewis (Wayne). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

He served in the US Army from 1963 to 1971, where he met his dear friend, predeceased James Vincent. Buying the home next door and co-raising their families created an extended family, which was full of the joyful chaos of sitcom worthy antics. 

He retired from The US Postal service as Postmaster of Sayville. Where he maintained a close friendship with George Kearns, a fellow Postmaster. Some have said he “was the best boss they ever had”.

Upon retirement, he was grateful to be hired by Southwest Airline of Islip. He was very happy to have a comradery with co-workers. He grew to love them and they him.  Many said he made work a happy place with his wonderful dry quick humor and kind nature.

Tom was well loved by all that knew him.  Gifted with a kind sense of humor, his comments brought love and perspective to the most difficult of situations. His focus on support, love, and bonds of family & friends, sustained many. It is a gift that has endured and multiplied amongst all that knew him. He will live on through all that love him.

Visitation:  Sunday, November 21st  2 - 4:30 & 7 - 9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville

Funeral Mass:  Monday, November 22nd 10:00 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene RC Church 1140 Locust Ave. Bohemia
