Thomas Francis Fawcett, 92, of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The son of Thomas and Alice (Darragh) Fawcett, he was born on July 6, 1932, in the Bronx, NY. He was a dear husband to the late Olga (Medina) Fawcett, to whom he was married on June 19, 1954, in New York City with a reception at Tavern on the Green, in Central Park.
Together, they were loving parents to Tommy, Wendy (Fawcett) Sandle, Steven, and Andrew. Tom was a proud father-in-law to Joanne; wife of Andrew, and a devoted grandfather to Meghan and Caitlin Fawcett, and Jason and Stacy Sandle.
Tom proudly served in the Navy as a flight technician during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Adean. He later went on to work at Fairchild Republic Company in Farmingdale, before transitioning into commercial truck fleet sales for Ford Motor Company. In 1977, he was featured in Time magazine as one of the top Ford sales professionals in the country.
Tom was predeceased by his sisters; Delores (Fawcett) Hogan, Carol (Fawcett) Martin, and his brother; James Fawcett. He is survived by his loving sister, Marilyn (Fawcett) Fisher of Bohemia, NY.
Despite his many responsibilities, Tom always made time to put family first. He was an actively positive person, whose love for whistling was only surpassed, by his joy in connecting with others. He poured himself into community volunteerism as a coach and referee in the Sachem Youth Soccer league, fought for special education inclusion in the Sachem schools, was a previous long-time member of the Lions Club, and rose to become the Grand Knight of the St. Regis Knights of Columbus Council #4651, as well as Head Navigator for the 4th Knights. He especially loved children and relished the time he had with his extended family. Whether buying the team hot dogs after his granddaughters’ softball game, or offering unsolicited compliments to those he came across on a daily basis, he left a mark on all who knew him. Tom will be forever missed and always remembered.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Raynor and D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s RC Church in Lake Ronkonkoma. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton NY.
