Thomas V. Dougherty

Thomas V. Dougherty, 80, of East Islip, New York, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born on July 3, 1944 in Bayside, New York to Harry & Mary (Dearie) Dougherty.  He graduated from Holy Cross High School and was the first graduating class at St. Leo College in Florida with a degree in Political Science.  He spent over 50 years working for the Steamfitters Union Local 638.

Thomas was known to many as “Doc” and was a member of the Saffron Kilts bagpipe band with the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 2 Babylon and was a founding member of the Roisin Dubh bagpipe band with AOH Division 7 East Islip.  He was an avid member with the AOH for over 50 years.
Doc was the Grand Marshall of the East Islip St Patrick’s Day Parade in 1984 and was a proud Irish American.
 

Doc loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed his 11 grandchildren and playing as much golf as possible.
 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kristina; children, Mary Kay Kennedy (JP), Patricia Lemery (Eric), Michael Dougherty (Nikki) and Timothy Dougherty (Sarah) Grandchildren; Kaitlin, Colleen, Bridget, Jack, Gillian, Brendan, Patrick, Maggie, Kate, Lily, Molly and his brother James Dougherty (Elizabeth)
 

Memorial Visitation:  Wednesday, June 11th  4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home 683 Montauk Hwy. Bayport

Hibernian Service:  Wednesday, June 11th  7:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Funeral Mass:  Thursday, June 12th  11:15 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church 240 W. Main St. Sayville.
