Thomas P. Compitello, 87, of Oakdale, LI, passed peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022. Born and raised in Amityville, Tom was a graduate of Amityville High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree at New York City College of Technology. He served in the US Army and then served on the Amityville Police Department before being one of the first policeman to join the newly formed Suffolk County Police Department where he served for 48 years before retiring as Chief of Patrol.
Chief Compitello is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pat, his three children, Thomas of Hauppauge, Manon Ciancimino of Sayville and her fiancé Dave Anderson of East Northport and Jaymie Karounos and her husband John of Long Beach, as well as his seven grandsons, Thomas, Ryan, Ronald, Lucas, Patrick, Nicholas and John and his sister, Jeanette Ingenito.
Friends and relatives will gather on Wednesday, December 21st, 4-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22nd at 10 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours RC Church in Amityville and interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery.
