Theresa M. Steinbrecher

Theresa M. Steinbrecher, 73, a forty-year resident of Oakdale, New York, died on Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, Terry was one of two daughters of the late Joseph and Josephine Taranto.  The family spent their summers in Lindenhurst, where Terry would marry the boy next door and childhood sweetheart, Louie Steinbrecher.  Terry was a longtime teacher at Islip Middle School.  She loved the outdoors and spent her summers on the water and winters in mountains playing in the snow.

Terry is survived by her two children, Tara and Lou, both of Oakdale, two grandchildren, Addison and Payton, her brother-in-law, Eddie Steinbrecher and his wife Chris, also of Oakdale, her niece, Lisa and her husband Nick, as well as countless friends.  Terry was predeceased by her husband Louie in 2011, by her nephew, Eddie in 2016 and by her sister, Camille in 2020.

Friends and relatives will gather on Thursday, August 7th, 3:30-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 8th at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene RC Church in Bohemia and interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
