Stanley M Berger Jr., known to all as “Butch,” passed away in the early hours of January 20,2026.
Butch was predeceased by his mother, Henrietta, father Stanley, brother Phillip and Phillip’s wife Janet. He is survived by his sister, Leann, niece Jessica and her husband Bill, nephew Phil and his wife Colleen, niece Michelle and her husband Jon as well as four great-nieces, Alex and her wife Sara, Ava, Lily and Grace and one great-nephew, Mason.
While Butch held various jobs in his life, he often told stories of his time in the Navy, or on the fishing boats of Freeport and as a steamfitter in Local 638. While Butch was never married, he considered Janet’s family his own and spent holidays and special occasions with them frequently. Family meant the world to Butch and he was fiercely protective of them, especially his nieces and nephews. Butch will be remembered for all of his stories, catchphrases, and his love of all snacks.
