Simon Stein

Simon Stein, 96 of Blue Bell, PA, formerly of Sayville, LI died on May 28, 2020. Born and raised in Sayville, Simon graduated from Sayville High school and NYU. He then went on and owned and operated Stein’s Apparel and Shoes in downtown Sayville alongside his two brothers, Eddie and Irving. For nearly sixty years, Simon served the community where you could find just about anything you needed for your dad, husband, son, athlete and wedding party. He did this for nearly sixty years with love, passion, and respect for each and every customer that came into his store. Simon served as President of the Chamber of Commerce more than once, he was a volunteer worker for countless Summerfest’s as his love for Sayville ran deep. Simon also served in the US Army during World War II and was an avid tennis player up until his late eighties. 

Mr. Stein was predeceased by his wife Rachel in 2004. He has two daughters, Bernice Lamp and her husband Miles of Syosset and Linda Sausner and her husband Alan of Blue Bell, PA, his four grandchildren, Lewis and Holly Lamp and Jason and Stacy Sausner.

Due to the current health crisis, services were private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Raynor & D’ Andrea Funeral Homes. Although Simon may not be with us anymore, his love for Sayville, his family, and his customers will never be forgotten. With his tape measurer hanging around his neck, his legacy will live on forever.
