Ruth M. Morrissey

Ruth M. Morrissey, 85, of Sayville, LI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, November 5, 2020.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ruth moved to Sayville with her husband in 1964.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Michael Flaherty and his wife Christine of West Islip, Diane Morrissey-Dabrowski and her husband Douglas of Bohemia and Kristine Morrissey of Sayville, her three grandchildren, Kerri (Jon) Flaherty-Fisco, Sean Flaherty and Ella Trama, as well as her siblings, Arlene Cooper and Robert Judge.  Ruth was predeceased by her husband David in 2002 and by her brother Ronald Judge earlier this year.

Ruth loved her family and longed for days of simpler times.  She loved to tell stories about growing up in Brooklyn during the depression.  She loved to treasure hunt at garage sales and share stories while making connections with people.  She had a magnetic personality and was elegant and graceful.  She loved old movies, black and white, turquoise, the ocean and the sun on her face.  She will be missed by all that knew her.

Friends and relatives will gather 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. on Monday, November 9th at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10th at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
