Rose Ellen Passannante, 79, passed away peacefully holding hands with her daughter on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at her home. She was born in Buffalo and resided in Oakdale. Rose graduated high school at 16, attained her Associates degree from Farmingdale by 18. After dedicating her time to her children through their elementary school years, she went on to complete her Bachelors and Masters degree from Hofstra while working full time. She was respected and loved professionally, socially, and by her family. She was a devoted mother to her children Katherine and the late Robert, and a beloved grandmother to her granddaughter Veronica Rose. She was Her intelligence and creativity were evident in everything she did. She was multifaceted and her interests and accomplishments were difficult to count. From the rifle team in college, gardening, reading, being a Girl Scout Leader, crafting, crossword puzzles, cooking, concerts and plays, movies, entertaining huge family gatherings, to social groups like book club and canasta, the AAUW, and going frequently to see local musicians play live. She would tackle any new interest with fierce dedication. Many of her skills – sewing, basket weaving, and embroidery would be considered to be those of a Master Craftsperson. She loved travel and took many trips all over the world. Argentina, Brazil, St, Petersburg, Hawaii, Tahiti, as well as many trips all over the United States are just a few of the places she experienced. She had a generous heart, donating to many charitable organizations, volunteering to help the elderly with tax returns, and helping applicants to study for US citizenship tests. Rose is survived by her daughter Katherine, her granddaughter Veronica, her sister Marian, her brother John, and nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was much beloved and will be so dearly missed.
