Rose Anne Halpin (nee McKenna) Sayville, New York, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born and raised in County Leitrim, Ireland, Rose, the 5th of eleven children, came to the US in 1958 at the age of 17. She worked for many years as an Executive Secretary with several different companies including NYNEX. Rose was an active member at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and a member of the Columbiettes for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener, lover of birds, enthusiastic cruiser and world traveler who especially enjoyed return visits to her homeland. A devoted grandmother, she was happiest surrounded by her extensive, loving family.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Kevin in 2019. She is survived by her two daughters, Irene Halpin and Jeannette Kolar, son-in-law Brian, three grandsons, Aidan (fiancee Faith Johnson), Mitchell and Philip, and great-grandson Myles, all residing in Sayville. Rose is also survived by her four brothers, John (wife Monica), Michael (wife Doreen), Seamus (wife Maeve), and Gerald McKenna, two sisters, Teresa McKenna and Margaret Cahalan (husband John), sister-in-law Mona May and brothers-in-law Patrick Leahy and Jack Cagney, and 36 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Patrick (wife Eileen), Mary Ellen (husband Michael), Kathleen and Agnes, her sisters-in-law Maureen Bahr and Loretta Halpin, brothers-in-law Cary May, William Halpin and John Bahr, and six nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives will gather from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 23rd at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, West Sayville NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24th at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church, 27 Handsome Avenue, Sayville NY. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
