Robert “Bob” Henry Hachmann, a longtime resident of Sayville, NY, passed away on Wednesday July 16th 2025, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor and his beautiful children, Karen (Hachmann) Purcell, Bobby Hachmann, Dawn (Hachmann) Hoffman, Christine Hachmann and Brian Hachmann.
Born and raised in Corona, Queens, into a working-class family, Bob worked tirelessly throughout his life to better himself and support those around him. Bob married the love of his life once he settled into a good job after high school. He and Eleanor moved to Sayville shortly after the birth of their second child to raise them in a safe and peaceful environment. While raising his own family of five and working full time, Bob managed to earn a Master’s degree in Computer Science in 1980. Career highlights included technical support for the lunar landing module and developing the software for various military jets, including the legendary F-14 Tomcat.
Through all his hard work, what Bob enjoyed the most of all was spending time with family. He loved each of his children equally and overwhelmingly. He was present for Eleanor and his children in every way that they needed him to be. He found time to drive his children to and from school, coach little league teams, attend school concerts and recreational activities, take family vacations, help most holiday parties, and even tell an occasional funny bedtime story.
Bob’s selflessness did not end with his family. Ever a thoughtful man, he reached out constantly to help others volunteering through church, schools and the community at large.
Bob has built a legacy of love and care that will be felt through generations. In addition to his children, he leaves behind eight beautiful grandchildren: Jeremy, Dylan, Erin, Alyssa, Hannah, Max, Emma and Abigail. Though he is no longer with them, he leaves them with a lasting impression that will be a guiding light through the rest of their lives. Just as he taught his children before them, his grandchildren have learned the valuable lessons of selflessness, humility and love. Truly, there was no man like Robert Hachmann, and he will be remembered eternally.
