Richard E. Freiburger

            Richard Eugene Freiburger, joined the love of his life Cathy on January 22, 2021. He died from Covid related illnesses after 90 years guided by unfailing catholic faith and devotion to family. Dick, a 35 year resident of Bohemia, was born January 5, 1931 and grew from a modest beginning on an Indiana Farm. Dick’s 30+ year career at Equitable Life included many sales and management positions in employee benefits. He retired in 1988 as the Chief Marketing Officer for the healthcare division. After serving four years in the Navy during the Korean War, he graduated with a BS from Indiana University in 1957. Dick was very active with St. John Nepomucene Church in Bohemia, he helped launch and contributed significant time to their Witness Housing program and was a member of the Justice in Peace Committee amongst many other roles. Dick was often found working on projects and loved the opportunity to teach /share his knowledge. 

            He leaves behind his children Don, and his wife Cindy of Huntington, IN; Barbara Maye of Port Charlotte, FL; Bill, and his wife Karyn of Mt Ariel, PA; Jack, and his wife Tabitha of Danville, PA; Maureen Contorno, and her husband Ray of Wantagh, NY; and Catherine Hitter, and her husband Bill of West Islip, NY; and his grandchildren Patrick, Anne, James, Keren, Tim, Katy, Beth, Kimberly, Josh, Zach, Nick, Shaymus, Connor, Kelsey Rae, Brad, and Collin and his 15 great grandchildren.
