On August 4, 1935 Owen & Mary “Mae” McQuillen welcomed the youngest of their six children (Eugene “Bussy”, Eleanor “Nun”, Edward, Marion, Robert and Patricia) when Patricia Agnes McQuillen was born. The McQuillen’s raised their family in Brooklyn, New York where Patricia went to school and then off to work as a clerk at Abraham & Strauss Department store. Sometime in 1958, Patricia met her future husband Charles Polito at a mutual friend’s wedding. They married on October 11, 1959. Charles joined the New York City Fire Department in 1960 and worked for them for 29 years. In summer 1960 Patricia and Charles welcomed the first of six children when Patricia was born. One year later their first son Michael was born, followed by their second son Charles. A year later came Susan. It was at this point Patricia and Charles decided to move their growing family from Brooklyn to the suburbs when they moved to Bay Shore, Long Island. Shortly afterwards Debra was born. In 1973 the family moved further east on Long Island to Oakdale where Patricia and Charles lived the remainder of their lives together. Their final child, Linda was born.
Patricia’s life revolved around nurturing her family as she worked tirelessly to maintain a household with six active children, a hard-working husband, and many beloved dogs throughout the years.
Patricia is survived by her husband Charles, her six children: Patty (husband Billy), Michael (wife Tammy), Chuck, Sue (husband Sherman), Debbie (husband Ken) and Linda, and five grandkids who were the light of her life: Kyle, Nicole, Danny, Kaitlyn, and Marissa.
Patricia affected many lives during her nearly 87 years and will be missed dearly by all who knew her and none more than her husband, children, and grand-children.
