Patricia A. O'Connell

Patricia O’Connell, age 78, resident of Oakdale died on October 18, 2024.

Patricia grew up in Bay Shore, New York where she developed a love for music and learned to play the accordion. This love of music led Patricia to meet her future husband, Brian O’Connell, who she met traveling with The Sunrisers drumcore. The two married in 1972 and bought a home in Oakdale. Patricia was a stay-at-home mom of four girls for many years and chaperoned several trips to Camp Edey as her daughters’ Girl Scout Leader. Patricia also worked in medical billing at various companies, including Zwanger-Pesiri for many years. 

Throughout her life, Patricia played the organ and the keyboard. She will be remembered for gathering family and friends to sing around the piano, and always showing up dressed for a themed party.  Patricia was the life of the party, carrying a decades-long tradition of Supper Club Thursdays and game night on Saturdays.

Patricia is survived by her daughters Colleen Stuart and her husband Andrew, Erin Jancus and her partner Tom, Katie Collins and her husband Andy, Kerri O’Connell and her fiancé Matthew, her grandchildren Cory, Kyle, Thomas, Ginny, Archie and Holden, her sister Mary Kelley and brother-in-law John. She is predeceased by her husband Brian and beloved dog Murphy.

Patricia's family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 24 from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick's RC Church in Bay Shore. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
