Michael R. Cardamone, 76, of West Sayville, LI, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
Mr. Cardamone was predeceased by his first wife, Veronica in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sweeney-Cardamone; his two daughters, Erica Moore of Bay Shore and Toni Kelley of East Moriches and their spouses – Sean Moore and Matthew Kelley; by Evelyn’s two daughters, Tara Sweeney of Ronkonkoma and Colleen Jerome of East Setauket and their spouses – Jason Gueci and Christopher Jerome; his eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Connor, Brendan, Leila, Madison, Kai and Theodore, as well as his two siblings, Frances Cook and Barbara Thies.
Mr. Cardamone was a Vietnam veteran who served as a Crew Chief for the KC-135 refueling aircraft while in the Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command (SAC). As a civilian, he worked as a Marine Mechanic for forty-nine years. He was a multi-talented and gifted man. Michael was an amazing culinary artist who loved sharing his gift with his neighborhood regularly. When not cooking, he could be found building some custom piece of furniture or inventing a part that might make life easier. He loved a challenge!
Michael Cardamone will be remembered for his strength of character, love of life, his caring heart, fighting spirit and great sense of humor. He left an impression and touched the hearts of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and huge circle of friends.
Due to the current health crisis, services were private. A celebration of Mr. Cardamone’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
