Maureen Burford Obituary

Maureen F. Burford, 85, of West Sayville, LI, passed away suddenly on December 29th.

Maureen worked for the NY Attorney General as a Consumer Frauds Rep, a position she enjoyed and found rewarding until her retirement. Maureen was a gourmet cook before it was trendy, taking influence from Julia Child, she took great pleasure in preparing sumptuous meals for family gatherings. Maureen is a past president of the Long Island Dahlia Society and was an active volunteer archivist at the Bayard Cutting arboretum. Maureen was an avid reader and also enjoyed music of many genres.

Nothing was more important to Maureen than her family, and everyone was always made to feel welcome in her presence.

Maureen is survived by her husband Robert Burford of six decades, their sons Nick (Kathy Heinlein) and Mark (Alycia Lally) and her beloved grandchildren Micaela and Brian and her brother Dennis Shea of Chicago and sister Mary Elizabeth Shea of NYC. Brother Patrick Shea pre-deceased Maureen.

The family is grateful for the love and support during this difficult time and plans on celebrating Maureen's life at a future date.
