Mary (Marie) Quigley passed away peacefully wrapped in love and surrounded by the family she spent her life nurturing and adoring at the age of 93.
She is now reunited with the love of her life, Frank, whom she met when they were just children. They lived each day for one another and were married for 71 years, a rare and beautiful devotion that served as the foundation for our entire family. For years, they both delighted their children and grandchildren with vivid stories of their younger years together,—and their shared history. Those stories, like the many blankets she carefully crocheted for her loved ones, will continue to wrap her family in warmth for years to come.
She was an extraordinary mother to her three daughters and her son, serving as both a devoted parent and a best friend to each of them. She shared a special, unique relationship with each of her children—bonds filled with quiet wisdom, and a deep understanding that only they will ever truly know. Above all else, her heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, "Mamie," and great-grandmother. As the undisputed matriarch of the family, she was our steady, loving heartbeat and our greatest teacher. We learned how to love a mother by watching the way she cherished her own, our Nanny; her lifelong devotion to her mother taught us the true meaning of a mother’s unconditional love.
Mom was a woman who had such enormous faith in Jesus Christ. She was a sweet and loving mom who we could confide in to help us through difficult times. With that help, she always added her faith to have us lean on. She was a very strong woman who had to endure difficulties but she always stayed positive and always had a smile on her face. Her joy of life was infectious and her memories shared of her childhood were a blessing to hear. Mom’s joy especially came from her great-grandchildren who, to quote her, “were her medicine.” She was beautiful- she was a song composed of love, faith, and dignity. She was our greatest inspiration and we honor her memory and her beautiful faith- mostly we will remember all her stories and the joy and lessons she taught us.
She was never happier than when the entire family was gathered together, especially during our cherished vacations. Whether it was the quiet of their cottage in the woods, the beauty of Shawnee, or the laughter-filled days at Woodloch Pines, the Poconos held a special place in her heart because it meant we were all together. She and her beloved husband spent their golden retirement years in Florida, where she was truly in her element. She loved the Florida sun and spent countless happy afternoons playing Mahjong with her dear friends, simply loving life by Frank's side.
She leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories, cherished life advice, and an immense love that will forever be our guiding light. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the laughter she sparked, the lessons she taught, and the incredible bond she shared with those lucky enough to be called her family.
