Madeline Silecchia

November 19, 1924 ~ September 18, 2023 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Obituary

Madeline Silecchia closed her eyes on September 18, 2023—two months shy of her 99th birthday. While raised in Brooklyn, Madeline lived her adult life in Rego Park until moving in 2021 to The Village Walk in Patchogue, NY to be closer to her brother Frank. Madeline was a beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend. She was affectionately known as Lee, “Madelina”, and to her most recent friends at The Village Walk, as Maddie.

Madeline was a true New Yorker and a woman ahead of her time. She began working in the early 1940s, and through hard work and a strong business sense, Madeline enjoyed a successful career into the 1990s.

As first-generation Italian, Madeline was proud of her heritage, spoke fluent Italian, and enjoyed time with family. She was a devout catholic and was a part of the Resurrection Ascension Parish in Rego Park.

Madeline was predeceased by her mother Rita, father Vito, brother Angelo and his wife Rose, and sister-in-law Helen, wife of Madeline’s only surviving brother, Frank Silecchia. Madeline is also survived by nephew Vito Silecchia and wife Sarah, children John and Maddie; niece Toni Belenski (Silecchia) and husband Ed, children Shae and Devin; and niece Rita Silecchia.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Long Island Community Hospice nurses and the staff at The Village Walk in Patchogue for the attention, kindness and comfort extended to Madeline during her time requiring hospice care. The support provided made it possible for the family to navigate through a difficult time.
