Lori Green, 78, a resident of Sayville, LI since 1976, died on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Lori graduated from Newark-Beth Israel Nursing School. She worked as a Lamaze instructor and a registered nurse for many years before starting her own business, ChildSaver Infant/Child CPR. Lori would go on to earn her Bachelors’ Degree in Health Administration at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue.
Mrs. Green was extremely active in the community and was involved in too many organizations to mention. To name a few, Lori volunteered as an EMT with Sayville Community Ambulance, served four two-year terms as Chairwoman for the Suffolk County Women’s Advisory Commission, volunteered on the Response Help Line, served on the Surgical Ambassador Program and Past Chairperson for the Woman for Woman Committee at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Sayville Rotary Club, the Dress for Success Program, and was responsible for creating the Mother’s Room Nursing Center at Islip MacArthur Airport. Lori also was the Director of the Perinatal Task Force in Suffolk County, was involved with the Postpartum Resource Center of New York and was on the Board of Directors of Head Start and Brighter Tomorrows. She was also involved in the Sayville School’s Business Advisory Board, Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk as well as the Long Island Mentoring Partnership.
Lori is survived by her husband, Dr. Stephen Green, her two children, Dawn Churchman and her husband Mitchel of Huntington Station and Darin Green and his wife Desiree of California, her four grandchildren, Talya and Jordan Churchman and Amelie and Elvis Green, as well as her siblings, Irene Margolis and her husband Leon of Coram and Bob Hollander and his wife Lori of Maryland.
