Linda Seitz Obituary

Linda Gail Seitz (1940 - 2025)

Linda Gail Seitz (née Helmsteadt,) 84, of Blue Point, New York, passed away peacefully with family at her side in Northport, New York, on Wednesday, September 11, 2025. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother known affectionately as "Goggy,” and a treasured member of her community.

Linda was born in Brooklyn, New York to Jacob C. and Audrey (Robinson) Helmsteadt. Alongside her brother, Jack Helmsteadt, she spent her childhood summers on Long Island where her love for the beach hamlet community took root. In 1955, the family moved to Lotus Court in Bayport, New York.

She attended Bayport-Blue Point High School where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Seitz. They became high school sweethearts and were crowned prom king and queen. Linda was also voted "Best Dressed" in her graduating class, a reflection of her timeless sense of style and eye for elegance that lasted through the years.

Linda and Bob married in 1960 and began building a family. They raised three children: the late Robert "Robbie" Seitz, Carol (Seitz) Cusack, and Adam Seitz. She and her family were avid boaters, spending summers at Barrett Beach or Watch Hill with family and friends. She and her husband would enjoy trips with friends, family, and had a life of adventures.

Of all her roles in life, Linda was most delighted in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Known to her family as "Goggy," she poured her boundless love, humor, and wit into each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linda was a very active member in the Bayport-Blue Point Community. She was president of the Springhorn Board of Directors for 15 years and provided consultation long past her term. She was a cofounder of County Junque and a cofounder and volunteer of the Bayport United Methodist Church Thrift Shop. Linda was also an active member of the Bayport-Blue Point Homemakers Association, the Bayport-Blue Point Heritage Association, the Bayport-Blue Point Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society. She loved her local library, the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library, and was an avid reader. A proud patriot, Linda took great pride in supporting her husband and later her two sons and grandson  during their military service. Her dedication to both community and country reflected the values that guided her life.

She spent her free time gardening, entertaining, and playing Scrabble with her family. Linda was also a devoted animal lover, having multiple pets over the years: Charlie the Dog, Heidi, Charlie the Cat, Joey, Poopy 1, Poopy 2, Sheba, Buttons, and many more.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Seitz; her son, Robbie Seitz; and her great-grandson, Daniel Tiernan Flaherty. She is survived by her children: Carol and Kevin Cusack, and Adam and Jamie Seitz-Giacobbe. Her grandchildren: Sarah Jean and Julian McDevitt, Amanda Ashley Seitz, John Robert and Melissa Flaherty, Casey Thomas and Megan Flaherty, Joseph Maxwell Grube and Nils Klykken, Caily Linda Grube and Jason Oddo, Jacob Seitz, Francesca Ocean Seitz, and Milania Seitz. Her great-grandchildren: Avery Jean McDevitt, Jace Cadence McDevitt, Morwen Roisin Flaherty, and Alyra Lani Flaherty.

She will be dearly missed by her family and the many extended relatives and friends who loved her.

Family will receive visitors Friday, September 19th  2 - 4:30 & 7 - 9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home 683 Montauk Hwy.
