Leslie Lee Lawrence

Leslie “Big L” Lawrence, 84, of Bayport, NY passed away July 11, due to injuries sustained in a car accident from the prior week. He was the son of the late Henry and Kathleen (Gray) Lawrence, father of Kristine Kramer (Husband John), Carrie Lawrence-Bosse (Husband Michael) and Mark Lawrence (Wife Nicole). Pre-deceased by his wife Joan (Holle) & son Lee (Wife Flo).  He shared his life with a long- time friend and companion, Lorraine Hugelmeyer, and grandchildren Alex, Rachel, Erica, Emily, Ryan, Megan and Kate. His family extended to his brother Bill, sister Nancy MacVicor, sister-in-law’s Marilyn & Kathy (Husband Tim) Holle and predeceased sister, Rita. 

A graduate of Tufts University in 1958, he spent his career as Manager of Communications at Brookhaven National Laboratory.  After retiring from there in the mid 90’s, he remained active until his passing, continuing to work in various roles such as umpire and real estate investor. He had numerous passions throughout his life including music, wine, bridge, orchids and sports. He never missed the opportunity to encourage people to challenge themselves and was a great influence to young folks in his life. He always made his presence known. The memories he has provided are too vast to comprehend; his family has enough stories to last their lifetime and more. 

In lieu of a wake, his son Mark & wife Nicole (Canino) have planned an outdoor celebration for friends & family at Loughlin Vineyard in Sayville on Sat. Aug 1, 12:00 – 2:00 (rain date 8/2).
