Kenneth R. Strange, Sr, 90, a long time resident of the Bayport-Blue Point area since 1970, died on May 29, 2020. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ken served stateside in the US Army during the Korean War. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and went on to work with the NYPD for 38 years before retiring as a Deputy Chief. Mr. Strange was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Snow RC Church in Blue Point and a member of the Sayville Yacht Club.
Ken Sr. was predeceased by his wife Marilyn in 2005 and his second wife Lydia in 2018. He is survived by his five children, Kenneth Jr. and his wife Aurora of Thousand Oaks, California, Robert and his wife Mary of Newton, Massachusetts, Susan and her husband Joe LeBlanc of West Nyack, New York, Corinne and her husband Tim Schell of Cary, North Carolina and Maura Curtis and her fiance Stephen Valentino of New Paltz, New York, as well as his beloved eleven grandchildren, Alexa, Cassie, Emily, Christopher, Molly, Maxwell(Nicole), Maris, TJ, Caitlin(Brad), Megan and Melissa, his brother, George Fotis (Julia) of Naples, Florida and his many nieces and nephews as well as his friend and companion June Garben.
Due to the current health crisis, services were private and a more public celebration of his life will be held a later date.
