Karl W. Englert formally of Brentwood and Oakdale, NY passed away in his home in Lake Ariel, PA at the age of 86 with his family by his side. Karl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was always happy, smiling and kind to everyone he met. Karl touched the lives of many with his kindness, strength, and generosity. He was a retired New York City Firefighter, a high school ice hockey referee and coach and he also worked for King Kullen as the maintenance supervisor. After retiring from King Kullen, Karl, and his wife Wilma, were snowbirds, enjoying the beautiful weather and spending his days golfing in Florida, along with working on the golf course behind his home in PA till he was 85 years old.
Karl is survived by his wife Wilma of 64 years, his three children and their spouses, William Englert (Vikki), Susan Jensen (Arthur) and Beverly Dailey (Chuck), 8 grandchildren, Brandan (Jessica), Danial (Teresa), Douglas, Matthew (Taylor), Michelle (Matthew), Marissa, Casey, and Caitlyn and 12 great-grandchildren, Angelique, Christopher, Jaxon, Slater, Madison, Matthew, Maxwell, Maverick, Marc, Mary, Emmie and Bennett.
Family and friends will gather on Friday January 17th from 2-4 and 7-9pm in our West Sayville location. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 18th 9:30 am at St. Lawrence the Martyr RC Church in Sayville. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Karl's memory to the charities below.
