Julia Hession Obituary

Julia A. Hession, 83, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication to education, and profound devotion to family. A cherished resident of Bayport for nearly two decades, Julia touched countless lives through her wisdom and generous spirit.

Born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, Julia was the daughter of Mary Cahillane Walsh, who raised her alongside her siblings Joanne, Maude, and Danny, all of whom preceded her in death. Her early years were filled with the close bonds of family that would shape her own approach to motherhood and teaching.

After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Elm's College, Julia found her true calling as an educator. For more than thirty years, she inspired and nurtured generations of students in the Longwood School District, leaving a profound mark on their lives through her commitment to teaching.

Julia's greatest joy was her family. She shared 48 beautiful years with her husband Richard, who passed away in 2012. Together they raised their sons, Gregg and Scott, until Scott's untimely passing in 2000 left an irreplaceable void in their hearts. Julia's extraordinary capacity for love was evident when she welcomed Arnold Mobley into her family as a young man, embracing him as her own with the same devotion she showed all her children.

Today, her legacy lives on through her son Gregg and his wife Kimberly of Blue Point, and her cherished grandchildren Connor, Kacey, and Liam Hession. Each one carries forward her spirit of kindness and strength.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Julia's life on Saturday, November 23rd at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church in Blue Point at 9:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Kent Animal Shelter, honoring Julia's dedication to rescuing cats and dogs and helping them find loving homes.
