Judy Lynn Hark, 73, of Las Vegas, Nevada died peacefully at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY after an unusual six year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Raised in Spring Valley, NY, Judy graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1965 where she was a cheerleader for the athletic teams. She had won an award for being one of the most physically fit students in Rockland County. Judy went on to attend Bridgeport University in Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor's of Science degree. She began her career as a physical education teacher and athletic coach at Suffern High School, NY. Judy moved to Cortland NY where she worked as a successful real estate agent. After having enough of the cold and snowy northeast weather, Judy headed to California. While there, Judy worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Marriott hotel in Anaheim and later at the Hilton Hotel in Long Beach. Judy's real desire was to teach, and so followed the trail to Las Vegas after being offered a teaching position. She secured a permanent position as a physical education teacher at John W. Bonner Elementary School, LV. Judy became close friends with many of the teachers and staff, and the students enjoyed and respected Ms. Hark.
Judy retired from teaching in 2014 and was looking forward to spending more time with both East and West coast family and friends. Judy particularly enjoyed her time spent at the West Oak Recreation Club in Oakdale, NY where she was a life long camper and had made lifelong friends.
Judy had a wonderful interest in antiques and treasures of all kinds. She had the knowledge and ability to restore and refurbish furniture, which she did. She loved the glitz of the Casinos and their machines. Judy had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed being around others, especially those who made her laugh.
Judy is survived by her sister Sharon (Buddy) Foley, sister Barbara (late husband Eddie) and brother Peter (Margaret). She is also survived by her nieces Maggie and Lizzie, nephews Brian, Keith, and Chris. And great nieces Kinsley and Harper, and great nephew Carson. Judy was predeceased by her parents Agnes Hamill Hark and George Hark, her nephew Tim Foley, and brother-in-law Eddie Brendel.
Judy will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
The family would like to thank the Dominican Nuns of Rosary Hill for their exemplary compassion and care for Judy these past several years. They will be forever grateful. The family would also like to thank the many wonderful family and friends for their tremendous love, support, kindness, and concern during Judy's illness. Bless You All.
