Joseph B. Pellegrini, of Great River, New York passed away on July 1, 2025

Joe’s devotion to the New York Islanders was lifelong and deeply rooted. He was a fan since childhood, inspiring his parents to become season ticket holders through the 70s and 80s. As a college hockey player himself (SUNY Oneonta), he attended the first Stanley Cup parade at age 20 in 1980 where (in his words) he traded a beer to Clark Gillies for a chance to touch the Cup.

To Joe, the Islanders weren’t just a team—they were legends, and a lasting connection across generations. In honor of his memory, we are proud to support the Islanders Children’s Foundation, carrying forward Joe’s legacy of love for the game and its community.

He is survived by his children Joseph and his wife Kristyn, Richard and his wife Renata, Kerriann Hernandez and her husband Steven, and Sarah Van Brunt and her husband Jared, his grandchildren Magnolia Jean, Poppy, and Raelynn Moon, and his brother Thomas and his wife Michele.
