Joseph P. Gallo of Bayport passed away on June 26, 2021 at the age of 91, after a brief illness. Known to all as JP, he was a resident of Sayville for 55 years, moving to Bayport in 2014 with his wife Joanne (deceased). He was the youngest of 7 children, born to Italian immigrants at home in Bushwick, NY on November 4, 1929. He served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War. After the war, he took a job with Long Island Railroad and married his wife Joanne in 1957. They moved to Sayville in 1960, where they raised 5 children; Joanne Agoglia, Matthew Gallo, Nancy Russell (Robert), Joseph Gallo Jr. (Monique) and Jamie Flores (Luis). They had 4 grandchildren; Alexandra Russell, Olivia Russell, Aidan Flores and Lola Flores. All five of their children and their two oldest grandchildren graduated from Sayville High School. JP served as president of the Sayville Little League in the 1970's and was also a member of the Lions Club. He was known for his love of cooking (and eating), along with music, being a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and Louie Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk, Inc. in East Northport or the Sayville Cabinet for the Sick.
