Longtime Sayville resident, Joan Martine Faber, passed away peacefully at home January 13, 2025. She was born March 4, 1928, to Florence and John Blummer. Joan’s three brothers: James Patrick, Daniel Joseph and John Bartholomew Jr “Bart”, all predeceased her.
Joan was married to Louis Andrew Faber on July 23, 1955. They had no children. Louis died in an airplane accident on July 18, 1976.
Joan taught elementary school with the North Babylon school district for many years. She traveled extensively and was an active member of St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Sayville, working with Outreach and Pro Life. She was a Eucharistic Minister at her parish and at local community facilities.
Joan had a bright positive outlook on life, an ever-ready smile and twinkling eyes. Strong willed and smart, she loved engaging with people of all ages even when she could no longer hear. She was a fearless adventure seeker interested in what was going on at home and in the world. She will be in our hearts forever.
Friends and relatives will gather on Thursday, January 16th, 9:30 – 11 a.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
