JoAnn F. Stein

JoAnn Frieman Stein, 94, of Sayville, LI, died on Saturday, August 6, 2022.  Raised in Sayville, JoAnn was the daughter of Winifred and Alfred E. Frieman, a prominent attorney in Sayville and Justice of the Peace in the Town of Islip and the original owner of the Shoreham (Beach Club) in Sayville.  Mrs. Stein and her husband Herbert raised their family in Bay Shore and JoAnn later returned to the Sayville area after Herbert’s passing.  JoAnn worked for 28 years with the Suffolk County Board of Elections in Yaphank and retired in 2008 at the age of 80.

Mrs. Stein was predeceased by her husband Herbert in 1976.  She is survived by her three children; Nancy Fox and her husband John of Richmond, Virginia, Terry and his wife Linda Ferri Stein of Sayville, Linda A. Stein of East Islip, and her grandson Jack Fox.
