Jennifer Dawson, 50, a lifelong resident of Medford, NY, passed away on May 6, 2025. Jennifer graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School in 1992 and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree at Suffolk County Community College. She worked for several years as a Teacher’s Aide in the South Country School District.
Jen is survived by her two sons, Cameron and Jayden, her mother, Kathleen Hynes and her husband Doug Singleton of Bayport, her sisters, Karen Edmondson and her husband Jason of Medford and Hannah Singleton of Arizona, as well as Karen and Jason’s children, Donovan and Jordan Edmondson. Jen was a blessing to her family and friends.
Jen was an amazing, doting mother whose entire life and identity revolved around wanting to do the best job she could raising her boys. Together their lives were filled with laughter and fun times.
Jen was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2022. After 18 months of treatment, Jen was told she was cancer free and rang the bell after her last chemo treatment. Three days later, she learned that the cancer had spread to her lung so she immediately returned to treatment. Having no break in between diagnoses and jumping right back into treatment was a hard pill to swallow.
Jen was a courageous, selfless, resilient and graceful woman. Her driving force was being a mother to her boys. If you did not know how difficult her life was, you would have never known it upon meeting her. She never complained or looked for sympathy. Jen was a warrior and just trying to make the most of her time with her boys. She will live in our hearts and souls with the wonderful memories we shared.
