James H. Smith

James H. Smith, 93, a resident of Sayville, LI for nearly fifty years, died on Monday, September 27, 2021.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Smith worked with Grumman Aerospace for many years.  He was a longtime volunteer with Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and an active member of the Coast Guard Auxilliary where he served for many years. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Elsie, his seven children; Susan, Patricia, Thomas, Lorraine, Lawrence, Gary and Alan, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives will gather on Sunday, October 3rd, 4-7 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, October 4th at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and a private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, are appreciated by the family.
