James E. Friel

James E. Friel Jr., a beloved father, Gramps, brother, uncle, and son who’s smile lit up any room he entered and laughter followed him always. He also was known by daaaaaaad, Gramps, and Jimmy boy to those who knew and loved him! Jimmy was always ready with a funny joke to make those around him laugh. He was a loving father who was always there for his children and then gave that same devotion to his grandchildren as well. Some of Jimmy’s loves included watching the Jets and Mets, golf, bowling, crossword puzzles, and ping pong! Jimmy loved animals, especially his pet dogs: Buster and Roxy and pet cats: Spooky and Toughy!  Jimmy loved  ping pong and played religiously with his brothers in the “pong cave.” He would always speak about his “victories,” as he was the oldest brother and of course the BEST player out of all of them! Jimmy told the best jokes- he had the patience of telling a really long joke with the perfect inflections and timing which always made them the best and his own laughter at his perfectly timed punch line sealed the deal. Jimmy will be forever missed by his family, but they will continue the traditions he set forth- telling jokes (albeit not nearly as perfect as him), playing ping pong (we will let his brothers finally win some games), laughing, (a whole lot of laughing at memories shared and his shenanigans with his best buddy/cousin Bobby) and even throw some crossword puzzles or a Jeopardy game in the mix (he did love a brain challenge)! Our fond memories of Him will forever live in our hearts, be heard around the dinner table, and shared at future family celebrations! 

Visitation:  Monday, October 11th  3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville

Chapel Service: Monday, October 11th at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home
