Herman E. Berg

Herman Edmund Daniel Berg died September 9 , 2020 after suffering from cancer the previous year.  Herman was the son of Herman and Wilhelmina Berg born on January 14th1931.  Herman was a lifelong resident of Sayville, New York.  He was a Master Carpenter and  a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union.  He was an officer in the Sayville Carpenters local district. He worked in many local developments in the area over the years.   Herman was a member of the Sayville Fire Department for many years.   

On April 20th1952 Herman wed Elizabeth Ihm of Medford, New York in Medford.  They were married for 50 years until Elizabeth’s death in 2002. They resided in Sayville in the same house he was raised in.  

He used his carpenter skills to renovate and add on to the house as his family grew. He enjoyed spending time in Wayne, Maine where he built a family vacation cabin with the help of his son and family friends.  In his free time Herman enjoyed gardening, landscaping and keeping an immaculate yard and lawn.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law  Daniel F. and Sheryl Berg of Iola, Kansas, a daughter  Nancy  E. (Berg) Nolan of Sayville, three Grandchildren;  Robert Nolan of Sayville, Mary (Berg) Wilson of Iola Kansas , and Lee D. Berg of Humboldt,  Kansas and one great grandchild.

Visitation - Monday September 14th, 7-9:30 p.m. at our West Sayville location, 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville, NY

Chapel Service - 8:00 p.m. Monday September 14th at the Funeral Home.

Interment - Union Cemetery, Sayville, NY
