Sayville loses a long-time neighbor.

Helen Muriel Jorgensen of Hampton Street, Sayville, passed away in her sleep on Friday morning, July 13, 2018, at the age of 87.  Helen was born in Sayville, NY on August 20, 1930, and lived there 85 years of her life.  Helen was preceded in death by her parents Laura Henricksen Jorgensen and Salmon Jorgensen, as well as her sisters Elsie Fuzia and Lillian Puntervold.  Helen is survived by her loving younger sister Edna Driskill and her ten nieces and nephews.  Helen worked as a civil servant for, and retired from, Suffolk County.  Helen had many talents and interests including being an avid reader and gardener.  She loved to draw and paint, knit, crochet and sew, and was well traveled.  She was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran church in Sayville.

Helen’s family invites you to attend the services to celebrate her life at Raynor and D’Andrea Funeral home in Sayville.  The viewing will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2-4:30 PM and 7-9 PM.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel Sunday, July 22, at 1200 PM.  Helen will be buried at Union Cemetery beside her beloved parents.  Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Saint John’s Lutheran church, Sayville, NY.
