Helen B. Dunker

Helen B. Dunker; age 100, longtime resident of Bayport, LI., died June 1, 2026.  Helen was born May 27, 1926, to Emil and Marie Bernz of Providence, RI.  She was the valedictorian of Central High School, and she later attended Kathryn Gibbs College. Helen married Rev. Egbert Dunker, he served as Pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sayville from 1964-1978. She embraced her role as a pastor’s wife. She greatly enjoyed visiting members of the parish and being actively involved in church organizations.

Helen’s Protestant faith has always been a cornerstone of her life, shaping her character and guiding her daily practices. She has led a loving and fulfilling life and one piece of advice she always shared is to “Be your own person.”

Helen is survived by many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Reverend Egbert Dunker in 1978, and her son Christian in 1981.
