Helen S. Cole

Helen Screen Fallon Cole passed away peacefully on Sunday April 25, 2021. 

She was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 31, 1930. Helen immigrated to the United States in 1961 with her husband John and son Brian. Daughters Michelle and Denise were born in 1964 and 1967, respectively, in Hempstead, New York. While her formal schooling was interrupted by the Great Depression and WWII, she remained a life-long learner. She possessed a keen intellect, particularly in mathematics. She was an avid reader, a gifted singer, adventurous cook, legendary host, and entrepreneur. She was a woman ahead of her time, embracing health and wellness ideas that would become part of popular culture only years later. Of all her talents, though, none was greater than being a mom. Every minute of every day was devoted to making life better for her children and grandchildren; by any measure she was overwhelmingly successful. 

Helen is survived by her husband of 67 years, John; children Brian (Ellen), Michelle (Mark), and Denise (John);   grandchildren Patrick, Megan, Daniel, Stephen (Hali), John Joseph, and Jennifer; and siblings Elizabeth (Betty) and John. 

She was predeceased by her parents Jeanie and Patrick; and siblings Kathy, Robert, Patsy, Jean, Joe, Madge, and Grace. 

Calling hours will be held from 3-7pm on Friday April 30 at the Raynor & D'Andrea funeral home, 245 Main St West Sayville, NY 11796. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:45 am on Saturday May 1, St. Lawrence the Martyr Roman Catholic church, 27 Handsome Ave Sayville, NY 11782.
