Harold "Sonny" T. Costorf

Harold T. Costorf, better known as Sonny, died on June 27, 2026.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cathy; his children Kerry, Tim and his wife Elizabeth, and Keith and his wife Dawn; and his grandchildren Amanda, Timothy, Jessica, Allyson, Ava, Chloe, and Lily.  He is predeceased by his brother Charles and his sister Ann.

Sonny served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 where he was stationed in Hawaii. He attended Farmingdale and New York Institute of Technology while he served as a Suffolk County Police as an officer and sergeant from 1969 to 1992.

He loved being a builder, and as a carpenter he built all of our family homes.  He was devoted to his family and always looked out for and took care of those who raised him, his friends, and neighbors.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 1 from 2 – 4 p.m. & 7 – 9 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home 683 Montauk Highway Bayport. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Snow in Blue Point at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation in Sonny’s memory would be appreciated.
