Harold J. Smith

Harold Joseph Smith, 95, of Sayville, passed away on March 02, 2023.

He was born and raised in Patchogue and was a 1945 graduate of Patchogue High School.

Mr. Smith lived many years between Patchogue, Delray Beach, Florida, and Ocean Ridge, Fire Island. He was a proud WWII veteran. After his military service in the Navy, he joined his family business at I. Smith and Son Plumbing & Heating Supply in Patchogue. He successfully ran the company until its sale and his retirement in 1985. Mr. Smith was a long-time member of Temple Beth El. His passions were his family, music, golf, and the beach. He also played the trumpet for the North Patchogue Fire Department band as well as  being a loyal NY Jets fan. 

Mr. Smith is survived by his three children, Yiscah Smith, Nancy Bauer (Jerry), and Robin Siegel (Richard). as well as  12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Joan, who was the love of his life. 

Services were held at Patchogue Hebrew Cemetery.
