Gloria Joan McCullough, a resident of Blue Point since 1962 passed away June 27, 2020. Her work career began as a switchboard operator for New York Telephone. Later, Gloria attended Suffolk Community College graduating with an Associate Degree in fine arts. She also owned and operated her own hair salon – Jon-Ali Beauty Salon in Patchogue for more than 20 years. Gloria was a very active member of the community, volunteering her time to assist the Sayville Soup Kitchen among other causes. She was an active member of Bayport Homemakers, Bayport-Blue Point Heritage Association, and the Neighbors and Gardeners of Bayport/Blue Point. She was a member of the Brookhaven Business & Professional Women’s Club, sat on the Brookhaven Hospital Advisory Board, and was a founding member of the Great South Bay Lions. Gloria’s faith was also important to her, as she was a dedicated parishioner of the Bayport United Methodist Church and volunteer of the church thrift shop.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory, of Blue Point, and Lawrence, and his wife Lorraine, of Medford, and her granddaughter Maya. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas, and her sister Constance Ross.
