Funeral service:  Wednesday, April 3rd, 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sayville.

Private cremation to follow.

Gerald Hale Thurman, 77 of Bayport, passed away on March 29, 2019. A resident of Bayport for over 30 years, Gerald was a U.S Army veteran and he received his bachelors from Hofstra University and his Masters from CW Post. He taught accounting at Suffolk County Community College and worked for 35 years with the Suffolk County Comptrollers Office retiring as the Director of Auditing services.

He was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed golfing with his friends and loved reading books, listening to music, watching baseball, going to the movies and Florida in the winters.

“Jerry” is survived by his wife Irene; his daughters Regina (Robert) Locke of Shirley, Jennifer (James) Stavola of Manorville; his sons Joseph (Caroline) Santangelo of Massachussets and William (Karen) Santangelo of Sayville and loving grandchildren Craig (Rachel), Lucy, Kelly, Nick, Cory, Erin, Jordan, Jake and Matthew and sisters Elaine (Robert) Touhey, Carolyn (Erich) Abt and Vera (Richard) Harris.
