George E. Leigh-Manuell, 91, of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of West Sayville, LI, died on Monday, November 9, 2020. George spent most of his life in West Sayville, graduating from Sayville High School and volunteering with the West Sayville Fire Department where he recently celebrated 75 years of service and was named Honorary Chief. He was also the Secretary-Treasurer of the West Sayville-Oakdale Fire District. George worked here on Long Island for the US Postal Service before retiring in 1984 as Postmaster in West Sayville.
Mr. Leigh-Manuell is survived by his children, William and his wife Allison of Daytona Beach, Susan VanEssendelft and her husband Donald of West Sayville, Robert and his wife Cena of West Sayville, his daughter-in-law, Ginny of Souderton, PA, his grandchildren, Timothy (Elizabeth), Jessica (Daniel), Michael (Megan), Jennifer (Steven), Jason (Monica), Kimberly (Ian), Kelle and Jennifer, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kate, Charles, Reilly, Brooklyn, Adalyn, Maeve, Macklin, Emily, Matthew, Mae, Hannah, Amanda, Jasper and Stewart. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan, his son, Michael and by his grandson, Brian.
Services for Mr. Leigh-Manuell were private. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
