George J. Ciresi

George J. Ciresi, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 22, 2025. Born August 1, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, as a young man, George joined the US Army, serving as PVT First Class in 1947. He trained and became a heavy mortar crewman, serving as an indirect fire infantryman stationed on the 38th parallel.

Upon returning home, he settled down and married his neighborhood sweetheart; Eileen, who passed away in 2019 (after 68 happy years) where he lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, raising his family.

His love of Long Island brought him to Sayville in 1971, they purchased land, built a home and bought a deli in Sayville, New York. George and Eileen owned and operated the Lakeland Deli for over 25 years. Once retired, they enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing, and entertaining family and friends.

George, a devout Catholic, was active in his community, serving as an usher at St. Lawrence Church for nearly 50 years.

George will be missed deeply by his family, friends, and neighbors.

He is survived by his son, George Jr., and his wife Cathie, daughter Ginamarie Santoro, and her husband Al, his grandchildren Chryse, George III, and Albert George, his great grandchildren Alyssa, Gianna, Lea, Jake, and Cara, his sister in laws, Dolores Sebiano of Staten Island, New York and Eleanor June, of New Port Richey, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Eileen, his son Patrick, and his daughter Teresa.

Visitation- Wednesday June 25, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at our West Sayville Funeral Home, 245 Main St.

Funeral Mass- Thursday June 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. St. Lawrence RC Church, Sayville

Interment- St. Lawrence Cemetery
